Bệnh lý Glôcôm – “sát thủ thầm lặng”, qua điều tra RAAB (Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness) năm 2007, tỉ lệ mù hai mắt do Glôcôm ở người > 50 tuổi chiếm 6,5%.

Genetic disorders have long been considered incurable, but now with the development of science and technology, these diseases have been studied and are based on analyzing the human genomics, it is possible to know which genetic mutation is caused the pathological, predict the possibility of an individual who may suffer the disease, thereby suggesting an appropriate treatment strategy. However, the number of genetic diseases that have been studied at present time are very small, and some of the diseases are due to multi-genetics, so the research is very difficult. Through OOLS No. 122, the speaker will discuss on how in optometry profession we should deal with a subject with inherited ocular disorders
This session with the title “How to clinically handle a subject with genetic disorder” will take place at 4h30 PM 24th April 2021.

Glaucoma – ” The silent killer”, through the RAAB (Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness) survey in 2007, the rate of blindness caused by Glaucoma in people who > 50 years old accounts for 6.5%. Without timely diagnosis and treatment, the damage of the optic nerve will become worsen and worsen, eventually leading to irreversible vision loss. Therefore, early diagnosis and treatment of Glaucoma are very important to improve the prognosis of recovery as well as minimize the economic burdens caused by the disease. Through OOLS No. 121, Dr. Uday Kumar Addeopalli will present the social burden caused by Glaucoma, the difficulty an Optometrist faces when they are one of the main forces in the diagnosis and prevention of blindness caused by Glaucoma.
