Ngày lễ này là một sáng kiến quan trọng của Hiệp hội về Đái tháo đường quốc tế (IDF) nhằm hướng tới mục đích nâng cao nhận thức của cộng đồng về cách phòng tránh, hạn chế mức độ tiến triển của bệnh lý đái tháo đường. Với mục đích lan tỏa và chia sẻ thông điệp tới cộng đồng tốt hơn, Hiệp hội Khúc xạ Nhãn khoa Quốc tế (WCO) và Hiệp hội về Đái tháo đường quốc tế (IDF) kêu gọi mọi người chung tay hỗ trợ bằng cách:

_Sử dụng hashtags #WorldDiabetesDay and #WDD trên các bài viết
